Te Ara Hiko
New Zealand's Flagship Renewable Solid Fuel Project
Te Ara Hiko is Carbona's flagship renewable carbon project and represents an important step in New Zealand's industrial energy transition.
Located in the central North Island, the project will utilise sustainably sourced plantation forests to produce renewable Biocoal and Biocarbon for industrial customers in New Zealand and Japan.
Designed around proven European technology and an existing brownfield industrial site, Te Ara Hiko combines strategic location, established infrastructure and renewable forestry resources to create a highly scalable project platform.
Te Ara Hiko represents more than a single production facility.
It establishes the foundation for Carbona's long-term vision of developing a portfolio of renewable carbon projects that support industrial energy transition across New Zealand and selected Asia-Pacific markets.

"Te Ara Hiko has been designed to demonstrate how renewable forestry resources, proven technology and strategic partnerships can support the future of industrial energy."
